Best Gay Blog 12

Men of Color was begun as an effort to put together a gay adult website devoted to men of color by its owner. The owner (Victor) took some recent inheritance money to fund the effort which includes not only a blog – but also a great deal of photo and video entertainment in its parent site. The blog, however, which is solely being rated here, is in large part a compilation of other site findings that fall into the theme of his desires and interests (and yes, sometimes just plain “wasp” porn). As a result, many of the sites he has found are from various places all over the world and are quite a diverse selection for those not just interested in twink white boys (Mexican, African- American, Asian, and Chinese among others). Unfortunately, we found that a few of the links in the recent articles were dead links. The remaining working links bring you oftentimes to other quality adult websites with some very hot men.

Men of Color started posting to the web in January of 2005. He has been sharing his feelings and thoughts of politics and gay and porn related news since then. He also has included a quote of the week to share with his large readership. Men of Color does not have the most unique design, although it is very professional and clean. It has a very effective search engine (using freefind.com) that allows you to find whatever topic you would like on the blog.

I encourage you to read the interaction between Victor and Michael Lucas in August 2005. It is regarding an exchange of emails about a legal dispute between Michael Lucas and Dark Alley Media where Victor was trying to get a response to the story. The exchange ends with Victor emailing Michael, “You are a(n) petulant child.”

Victor does talk a fair bit in his entries about the porn industry from a first hand perspective. If you are at all interested in the industry, I would encourage you to add MOC to your blog list. Other recent topics include an evaluation of the future of porn, sex with an Iraqi, and pulling Towleroad.

Best Gay Blog 11

Paul LekakisJoseph is a 30 year old from Atlanta (born in Southern California) whose boyfriend BJ is the owner of another great blog, Sodomy Creek. He describes his interests as Politics, Technology, Science Fiction, and of course sex. Joseph’s blog is very well organized and easy to find what interests you. He has quite a bit of experience in the blogging world after all, as he started his own on May 8, 1996 when he was still in California. He has been sharing tidbits of his life with us ever since (with a few blips of snow on the radar). The meat of the content really began in 1999 when his sense of discovery and freedom took him on a road trip across America which led him to meet BJ in Atlanta. After that meeting (and having sex every night they were initially together), he was hooked. He is a romantic who shared about sending CD’s, love letters, and thoughts of kidnapping BJ with his readers.

Monotonous dot net is not the average looking blog. It has a simple, but effective design with a great search engine to find anything you want. Be specific, though, since the word “sex” will bring up almost every entry.

You can’t help but be drawn to the sexy photo he found on Live Journal glaring on the left side of his banner. Joseph shares numerous other photos through his site including some other great hunks, pictures of himself and friends, gay art and even a gator photo.

Joseph shares some intimate and private thoughts with his readers as well. For instance he gives us insight into his initial fears and concerns about moving in with BJ, “Last night, BJ gave me a letter, saying that I had taken his heart from him, and to be careful with it. I realized after he kept saying that I had his heart that he was trying to say that he loved me (at least this is my interpretation). Even so, I was scared to say “I love you.” It’s such a strong declaration and can’t be taken back. What would I be signing onto? Once you tell someone you love them, I think you owe them more than you did before. Besides that, there was still a major possibility of being rejected or having him think all of this was going too fast.” Joseph is able to take us through various stages of his life by talking about his current life in one entry and then bringing us back to a memory from his younger “cruisier” days in the next.

Joseph shares some of the simple things in life such as books he’s read (he’s a John C. Wright fan), movies he has seen (or is yet to see like The Godfather) and even the sensitive subject of death. Go check it out yourselves to provide your own comments and thoughts. Other recent topics include a brain survey, porn clerk stories, and an Alaskan stalker.

Best Gay Blog 10

Blood Ray is a 31 year old Libra from St Louis. He describes himself as a “corporate drone no more…finding my way in the world, ten years or so after I thought I should have found it already. And I love pudding.” His blog, Diary of Blood Ray is exactly that – what you would expect in a diary with only the slightest awareness of an Internet audience.

Blood has an honest straightforward style and intention in his writing. He shares his moments of melancholy as well as his hope and excitement about his future. Some time back shortly after turning 30 he shares, “Whilst driving home from the bar tonight (my first major outing since being sick), I was struck with melancholy. I'm feeling restless again, and not sure what to do about it.” I am impressed by his capability to share a brain dump of thoughts and feelings, all while keeping the audience (sometimes the whole country) engaged.

Blood shares some of the simple things in life such as books he’s read, movies he has seen (or is yet to see like the upcoming Rent) and the purchase of household items like a mirror. His blog design is fairly simple, and not all that professional – but that is not the reason to visit. Blood Ray does not have lots of hunks or art, but does share a bit of imagery related to the topic of each entry. He also is a cutie (yes, he posts some self pictures) who looks to be an intellectual in his low to mid twenties. Go check it out yourselves to provide your own comments with your thoughts. Other recent topics include a ranting on Chicago, adventures as a Dave & Buster virgin, and thoughts of working in the restaurant industry.

Best Gay Blog 9

A Modern Day Tragedy, a 6 month old gay blog, is written by a 17 year old Mormon Southerner who loves writing and gymnastics. He refers to himself through his blog as “Tragedy” and brings us his “tragic” experiences and pains and struggles.

One of the first observations I made on this very well designed blog was the style of his writing. You can tell pretty quickly that this is a younger writer who either has few of the technical aspects of writing down (i.e. punctuation, spelling, etc) or he is simply doing a brain dump and writing skills are a low priority to him. In either case, I am able to picture his thoughts and experiences pretty clearly with little disruption from the mechanics. T certainly has a strong opinion about certain items, such as gay marriage. He recently shared his level of overall self protection in a recent entry, “Also I will never have a joint checking, or savings account. I will never go into business with anyone unless I own 51% of the corporation. I will never tell anyone the name of my personal corporations. I will never tell anyone my future business plans. I will never tell anyone the thing that scares me most. And I will never ever on my grace sign a marriage certificate.”

T brings a nice simple black and deep blue design to his blog. It is evident that he has some level of technical experience since he is using a blogspot domain, but the eBlogger banner does not appear (an indication of an FTP configuration). Go check it out yourselves to provide your own comments with your thoughts. Other recent topics include a weird dream involving funerals, reflections on Columbine, and thoughts of becoming a DJ.

Best Gay Blog 8

Jon is a 26 year old China Town junkie (although notes he’s not a heroin addict) from the big apple. He describes his blog as having a dark twisted sense of humor. Many of his entries are created early in the morning and have the prose of that fresh morning feeling.

The first thing I often do when reviewing a blog is read the most recent 5-10 entries to just get a general sense of what’s happening in this person’s life, style of writing, and a sense of “now”. When I did that reading Jon’s blog, “The FashMagSlag” I knew that this was someone with good writing skills, but I felt like I was just skating on the surface of what could have been some creative topics. It wasn’t until I read a recent entry where Jon admitted, “I am completely aware that this post is as boring as boring can be. I've been having trouble coming up with interesting posts as of late. But, there are some good ones here and there if you feel like browsing through my archives.” And so as a respectful visitor, that is exactly what I did…and behold I found a few gems. My favorite is an entry called “If I ever…” In this entry, as a Japanese American, Jon shares some frustrating (and very funny) experiences he has even in the melting pot of all cities, New York. I could clearly picture the scene and hear the voice in his head responding to the situation. It was cleverly written and had me laughing out loud.

Go check it out yourselves to find that and the other jewels in Jon’s life (including having sex with a bear – no not the type who steals your tent). Other recent topics include the hair styling of Prime Minister Koizumi, getting off with or without gay porn, and a Karaoke night.
